About

Iā€™m based in Toronto where I studied, worked in the non-profit arts sector and now maintain my studio practice focused predominantly on oil painting. I completed a BA (Hons) degree in Visual Studies and Art History at University of Toronto. For a long time my artistic concern focused on the complexity of longing and nostalgia, even for things we flee, which I believe was connected to having arrived in Canada when I was young as part of an economic and political migration. My main interests lately have been memory, exploration of seriality/multiplicity using the human figure, and work informed by my family history and personal experience with displacement.

Most recently I had a solo show entitled (Re)Moved at the Red Head Gallery. Other recent exhibitions include group shows Brave New World (Gallery 1313), John B. Aird Gallery's Still Life exhibition, as well as At Intervals (Auto BLDG) and New Measures (Collision Gallery) in Toronto, which presented the work of participants of the Akin MOCA 2019-2020 Residency (currently Akin Studio Program in the Auto BLDG). I have also participated in the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair for a number of years.
